The actress had put her acting on hold while she grieved but, now she has returned to our TV screens, she has opened up about the “tremendous loss” she has suffered. The 28-year-old said she is coping with her grief and has come to terms with everything.

“Losing your husband at such a young age is like losing your entire life and your future. All my dreams were around Dumi, having kids and the work we wanted to do together. Every day I feel like I’m being reborn and I have to learn how to walk again,” she said.

“I’m finding my ways and new ways to live and, yes, there are days when I wake up and I’m still in disbelief that this has happened to me but I’ve accepted that this is my reality, so I need to pick myself up. My husband isn’t here anymore to go and work for us,” she added.

Determined to pick up the pieces, Simz made her debut on Broken Vows on January 1 on e.tv at 6.30pm. She plays the role of Dudu Mkhwanazi, Thandi’s cousin and Lydia’s niece. Dudu is an aspiring singer who dreams of becoming a gospel star. She’s the exact opposite of her cousin Thandi. She’s chaotic, unapologetic but also deeply caring.
