1. What got you interested in becoming a DJ?

The ‘Love of Music’ and how I get to engage with people through it.

2.Why did you choose R&B music as your main genre?

I could say I chose it because it’s how I feel healed in so many ways when I listen to it.

3.What’s your go-to R&B song when you’re performing?

I’d go with ‘Man Cry Too’ by The Manhattan.

4.How did you come up with your DJ name?

My stage name comes from my original name, ‘Itumeleng,’ which I shortened to ‘Tumiie.

5.What’s the best thing about being a DJ?

The best part is engaging with people from all walks of life and knowing that they find healing through my music.

6.How do you pick the songs for your sets?

I choose my songs based on the energy my crowd gives me; their vibe controls the set. I don’t play for myself—I love to accommodate everyone.

7.Who’s the one celebrity you’d love to DJ for and why?

Lol… Mr. Hopolang, aka DJ Young, is a man of his word through music. He’s healed countless souls and helped many people find themselves.

8.Who would you love to collaborate with in the future?

haha.. I would actually like to collaborate with Dj young, Ismail Ibrahim, Wilson B Nkosi and many more…

9.What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a DJ?

Music is life. When you choose Soul & RnB, you’re connecting with people from all walks of life, each with their own unique soul. You have to humble yourself and always give your best.
