Baby Cele Reflects On leaving “Uzalo”

Kwa Zulu Natal born actress Baby Cele said farewell to a character she has both loved and embodied for several years, on the popular SABC 1 Telenovella, “Uzalo”

The character was recently written out of the show via means of being murdered by her husband with locals and law enforcement unable to find the body.  A plot twist that not only successfully ends the actress’ involvement with the show, but also provides some narrative mystery to smoothen the transition and propel the show forward.

Baby Cele has played the character of Gabsile Ndletshe since 2018 when she joined the cast.  Gabsile has herself mentioned that this was the first time she was given the opportunity to play a character that she connected with so deeply, and even helped her change perspective on certain things about life.

Baby has also gone on to express her sadness at having to say farewell to the cast and crew of the show as well, who had come to be family to the actress, given the amount of time they had spent over two years bonding over their shared love of the craft as well as the production itself.
