Just a short while ago, President Cyril Ramaphosa released a statement confirming the passing of Spokesperson Jackson Mthembu.

It is with deep sorrow and shock that we announce that Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu passed away earlier today from COVID-related complications.

The Minister of Presidency died today, due to Covid-19 related complications at the age of 62.
The president has extended his condolences to the minister’s family and colleagues.
“Minister Mthembu was an exemplary leader, an activist and life-long champion of freedom and democracy. He was a much-loved and greatly respected colleague and comrade, whose passing leaves our nation at a loss.”

Earlier this year on the 11th of January 2021, Mr Mthembu took to Twitter revealing that he had tested positive for Covid-19 after he felt an abdominal pain letting people know that he is seeking medical attention only to succumb to the virus today.
Today I visited the Military hospital in Tshwane to get medical attention for an abdominal pain . After undergoing some tests , I tested positive for Covid 19 . Plans are afoot to get all my family members and close associates tested as well .
