Elvis Blue 2010

Season 6 Idols South Africa winner Elvis Blue recently graced the 702 unplugged to give an offering of his latest album. Having won the Idols SA title in 2010, the Award-winning artist has gone on to win the South African Music Award and his albums have gone gold and platinum.

Sasha Lee Davids 2009

Idols SA had not one but two winners in 2009. Sasha-Lee Davids and Jason Hartman were co-winners after a voting mix-up. Since then Sasha has been performing for shows such as Divas, Duets and Kaapse Jol. She announced in March that she was making a solo music comeback. “I am back doing exactly what I want and the right time in my life surrounded by all the creative minds to get me to the next level,” Sasha-Lee said in a press statement.

Jody Williams 2007

Cape Town singer Jody Williams became Idols SA’s youngest winner in 2007. The then-17-year-old wowed the judges with her powerful vocals.  Her debut album, Just Gonna Be Me, went double platinum, and soared to number on the SA music charts. She has been fairly quiet since then. She released a single called Cosmic Coincidence in 2013 on iTunes, and a Christmas track, This Christmas, in 2015. The 27-year-old is enjoying life in the ‘Mother City’ with her dogs and partner.

Karin Kortje 2005

Karin Kortje is the winner of the third season of Idols in South Africa.

After winning Idols in 2005, the former farmworker’s career skyrocketed, but in 2006, things took a dip when her ex, Cheslin Williams, was accused of murder and three years later convicted. Karin is hosting a show with Camillo Lombard, called The Diva and Maestro Collaboration, at the Baxter Theatre, which will be running from 20-23 June.

Anke Pietrangeli 2003

Anke Pietrangeli was the winner of the second season of Idols (South Africa), beating Poseletso Sejosingoe in the final. After winning Idols in 2003 Anke released her debut album By Heart in 2004, which she followed up with Limbo on the Sony/BMG label, which was recorded in English and Afrikaans.

Heinz Winckler 2002

Idols South Africa season 1 winner Heinz is still pursuing music. And he has had a successful music career over the years since he won Idols SA in 2002.  Earlier this year, in April, Heinz Winckler from Cape Town, announced a shift towards Christian worship music and ministry work in his career.

The popular 40-year-old Afrikaans and English singer and guitarist says on his Facebook page that he has already begun to minister at churches, schools, charities and Christian events in South Africa.

Tune in for the grand finale on Sunday where Thato and Yanga will be battling it out to win this years idols SA, on the 18 November at 17:00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161).
